Please help Marie to help our homeless soldiers

I can not begin to imagine what the horrors of war are like and consider myself incredibly lucky to be living in a land where we can generally live our lives in peace.  I don’t know how anyone could possibly come home and not be damaged by what they witness and endure, last week I spent some time in Covent Garden and it was alive with celebrations for armistice day.  A spitfire on display, band playing airforce everywhere, I felt so very proud of our young heroes, then on Saturday my lovely (and rather daft – read to the end to find out why) friend, Marie Reynolds told me of the sad story of so many who return without support – please read her article below:

We are a patriotic nation, one that is so proud of our men & women who dedicate their lives and make the ultimate sacrifice for our Country.

The sickening news of Lee Rigby’s murder was one that not only swept the nation in shock & horror but the World. Many making pilgrimages to the place he was slain… Facebook, Twitter and all social networking going wild in uproar..we are, or so it seems a Nation that is vehemently upstanding and protective about our Forces.

I, for one wanted to give something back to the men & women and it was not until I did some research about these so called charities that I found out how conditioned they are… The Poppy Appeal wanted £10,000 just for me to use their logo, along with Help For Heroes wanting just a mere £5,000. To say I was astounded was an understatement, so I continued my research, that was when I stumbled uponHonour British Forces run by the most inspirational woman called Erica Fenn, every penny raised goes straight back into the charity.

Erica is a mother of a son who served in the forces who was discharged from the forces as he suffered from PTSD, she found the level of support when the men & women left the forces was practically non existent. A huge proportion of people living rough on the streets are the very same people we hold in such high regard, yet if they are not in uniform we seem to turn a blind eye.

Erica has told me some of the horrific incidences she has had to deal with to help these individuals overcome, rehousing and finding accommodation even if it is for a few days to avoid them being set alight while they are asleep, abused and even having what little possessions they have stolen.

Erica herself cooks hot meals to feed these clusters of individuals in local towns and has faced huge opposition with councils trying to ‘cleanse’ the streets, yet not offering any productive help for our fallen heroes.

The charity appeal for any old coats, boots ( these are desperately in need as the feet of some are literally rotting in their shoes), sleeping bags, dried foods or any ‘shoe boxes’ filled with new underwear, hats, gloves.

I am so happy that the charity is starting to grow with Agents popping up around the UK.

Honour British Forces are so grateful for any support given, after all these are the very people that have fought on the front lines and need us now more than ever. There is never a truer saying like ‘Charity begins at home’.

As well as proceeds of the MRL Honour Massage Candle going to HBF I am planning a parachute jump below is the link to my  ‘Just Giving’ page and would be grateful for any donation as I am aiming to raise as much as I can to help them.

Well I did say she was daft, but if throwing herself out of a plane can help to raise funds, then we’d better support her right now or goodness knows what she might do next – so come on click on the link, it doesn’t matter how much it is, it could be your son, or brother or sister out there in the cold tonight – PLEASE CLICK BELOW!

Click on link to donate – thank you
