Here at Beauty Business News we are lucky enough to have some fantastically generous companies who send us their marvelous product to try, one of them being Dermalogica. They sent us a positive Aladdin’s cave of their three step shaving programme from their men’s grooming line: “Shave”. We felt it was only fair to get an unbiased opinion, as we at BBN’s offices love Dermalogica. So, I enlisted two of Britain’s finest boys in blue to trial the products daily for a month.
First on the list was Daily Defence SPF15, and this was used by a real “Action Man”. He is ex-army, runs marathons, walks the beat in a beautiful part of the UK, and is out in all weathers—so an ideal candidate for using a product with the added bonus of an SPF. Daily Defense is an all-rounder, with its lightweight formula and broad spectrum SPF of 15, it forms a protective barrier on skin without leaving it feeling greasy. It is also beneficial for potentially dry and tight post shave skin. To quote our tester, “I really like the fact it has an SPF, especially now we are in the summer months. I’m planning on taking it on holiday this year, and it appeals to my lazy/forgetful side as I only need apply it once a day”, and—just to add—this tester was a complete skincare novice, sounds like he’s a skincare convert to me.
Our next tester is also a hard working crime response office, father of five, and lover of the great outdoors. As a devoted wet shaver, he was our best candidate to try Daily Clean Scrub, which is a dual- action product that both prepares the skin for shaving, and lifts the beard/ stubble away from the skin whilst cleansing away dirt and impurities with its micro encapsulated beads, the skin is then left ready for…Pre-Shave Guard. With the addition of cooling camphor, this outstanding formula adds an extra layer prior to applying shaving cream, and therefore helps to minimise razor burn and bumps, whilst allowing for a close comfortable shave. Our tester then moved on to try the Close Shave Oil, an ultra smooth oil that acts as a barrier against razor drag and burn. It allows for maximum visibility of the skin, due to its clear formula, and is therefore perfect for shaving around a moustache or goatee, and achieving the closet shave possible.
His next product to try was the Clean Bar. It is a soap free formulation packed with skin softening and healing ingredients, idea for shift workers who may want to freshen up without drying out their skin. It contains tea tree and lavender, which are both renowned for their purifying properties, thereby helping to keep skin clear and the bar bacteria free. Other ingredients such as lactic acid, oat kernel, and retinol gently exfoliate, whilst licorice and allantoin sooth, thus making it suitable for even the most sensitive of skin. To quote our tester, the products are “Fantastic…Loved all the products, 10/10”, and provided “one the best shaves [he’s] ever had”
As you can see, both of our testers agree that Dermalogica’s “Shave” system has not only offered a great shave, but completely revolutionised their skincare and shaving regime.
