Top 20 Vitamins for Health and Beauty: Part Three

The countdown continues…

All of us are aware of how important getting enough vitamins is for our overall health and well being. But did you also know that there are many vitamins which help keep ageing at bay? In my quest to keeping you young on the inside and out, I thought I’d compile a top 20 of what I consider to be the essential vitamins and minerals.

After all what you look like on the outside is often a reflection of what is going on inside.

I must also stress a healthy diet and exercise, and the importance of drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water daily, not only help to keep skin, mind and body at optimum levels of health and vitality, but to also enhance benefits of a correct vitamin regime. No vitamin regime should be undertaken without consulting a doctor or healthcare professional especially if you require regular medication as there could be some contraindications with supplements (i.e. interference with certain drugs).



10.Flaxseed oil, 1000mg
Flaxseed oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids (EFAs) and alpha linolenic acid (ALA). High in omega 3 fatty acids, flaxseeds are thought to have lubricating properties, thus helping to diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles and leave the skin feeling softer and smoother.

This is a three in one supplement. For, not only does it have ability to block UV rays with an SPF of 3 (which is sufficient to block direct rays of sun), but it is also a free radial scavenger and a powerful anti oxidant. Free radicals damage and shorten the life of cells which in turn speed-up the ageing process.

8 Coenzyme-Q10
Another free radical scavenger, coenzyme-Q10 has been shown to have a direct effect on decelerating the aging process. As we age the amount of CoQ10 declines, and by replacing it through supplementation cell aging is slowed down. It also has the ability to recharge and boost other antioxidants (e.g. vitamin C and E).

7 Biotin
This is a water soluble vitamin B complex which is required for proper fat production. Due to the fact that  fat is essential for cell production, when you don’t have enough of this particular vitamin in your system it can lead to muscle breakdown, hair and nails  becoming brittle, and wrinkled skin.

6.Vitamin D
Having adequate blood levels of this vitamin is an important part of your anti-ageing arsenal. As we age the levels of this decrease and our body’s ability to produce this declines.  Therefore it’s a fabulous supplement to take when waging your anti-ageing war.
